Actor’s Jam Sessions

Jam Session Historymont2

The actor’s “Jam session” began in 1991. This intensive seminar has been taught extensively in 3 countries on 2 continents. The unique aspect of it is that it is not just taught from an industry professional’s standpoint, (Actor) but by that of a director, writer and entrepreneur as well.
You get a full view of perspectives that make a whole moment work on film and in acting. You also get a view of how to operate as a business, so that you get all the possible tools you will need to succeed. You get all this in just two short days.
The Jam Session has been taught for twelve years now and is accompanied by a book of reference called ‘The Actors Handbook’. The Actor’s Jam Session is not just about and for actors, but FOR people ABOUT people.
In 1997, a second Jam Session was developed for those wanting to take one step further down that road of self-discovery. The second session is for those who have taken the first session.

Booking the seminar

Seminar fees are structured according to class size and sponsorship. Rates are subject to change and negotiation. Current availability and booking arrangements are all done on a first-come first-served basis to facilitate all those wishing to schedule a seminar. On average, there is a thirty to sixty-day lead-time needed for seminar scheduling.

Sponsors

A minimum fee of $2,500 is charged for a seminar of twenty-five students. Each additional student is required to pay a $100 fee for the two days. A maximum student limit of 50 is strictly enforced, since time limitations will not allow one on one attention beyond that point. I supply the handbook; my fee covers my hotel and expenses (in the continental usa only). For seminars outside of the continental USA travel arrangements and fees will be determined at time of negotiation. If under 50 students are booked for ANY seminar, the sponsor arranges the air travel and hotel accommodations for me. Additional Handbooks are available for sale in hard copy or in eBook format on the web site. The sponsor must supply venue, TV and participants. Fees of over $100 per student charged by the sponsor remain that of the sponsor. No more than two seminars will be taught back to back, since the effort and energy expended in that time period is very intense. Short seminars, 1 day, half a day, talks for schools and college's can be arranged. Custom speaking arrangement fees will be negotiated on a per event basis.

mont3Recommendations

The following are the reactions of just a few of the many satisfied students from around the world. Following these comments is a sampling of the many letters of recommendation I have received from within this industry we call “Show Business.”

As a personal manager from New York I was surprised to see how well prepared the weekend was. Your techniques reminded me of those used in New York and L.A.
The course was very informative; the ‘Handbook’ you gave everyone was outstanding. . . you made excellent use of every moment. Your personal style . . . made for a great presentation. Your passion for the craft is evident. Your professionalism and honesty show a great deal of integrity. As far as I am concerned your (Acting and Teaching) skills are of an extremely high standard. The students left with great satisfaction. I would recommend this course very highly to anyone considering the business, or professional world of acting. I hope this may serve as an unreserved recommendation for you as an actor and a teacher.
Boni Mollins—Green Key Management, New York and Florida (N.C.O.PM.)

Having completed your course, comprising amongst others, casting, terminology, camera technique and script terminology, I’d like to say how much I’ve learned over the past five weeks. The course, although very intensive, was well prepared and presented. It served to highlight the fact that, even after studying drama for three years full time, it had in no way prepared me for the craft of screen acting.
Nicola Jane Isaacs—Cape Town, South Africa

Your course was exciting and stimulating. Your excitement and enthusiasm has sure rubbed off on all of us, but your pure professionalism is what impressed me most. I am sorry the course could not have been longer.
Peter Muzik—Mafex Pty. Ltd. Cape Town, South Africa

I wanted you to know that I really enjoyed the ‘Actors Jam Session’ workshop you taught. I learned more in one weekend than I learned in eight weeks at a local acting school. Your techniques help me reach that emotional level I was striving for. I think you are a wonderful teacher and actor and I would recommend your Jam Session to anyone and everyone interested in developing skills in acting and acting in film.
Pamela Coskela—Florida, USA

mont4Your course was an eye-opener to me. I had some vague ideas before I started, but now, nearing the end of the course I know how to consistently earn more than the average actor. I can recommend this course to anyone serious about getting into the TV and Film industry, anyone in modeling, or anyone who just wants to expand his or her horizons.
Knud Handsen—Cape Town, South Africa

Andrew Heller is the finest acting coach I’ve ever had the pleasure of learning from. While he is very demanding, he knows how to bring the best out of every individual he teaches. It wasn’t UN-common for him to go on hours after the scheduled class time. I personally feel that the values I’ve learned from Andrew will not only see me through my acting career, but through my personal life as well.
Britt George—Florida, USA

Your class has been the only one I’ve taken where I’ve merged knowing more than I ever learned in all the classes I’ve taken combined. Having taken your intense and most informative class, I have become more knowledgeable of what it takes to succeed.
You have masterfully shown, in my opinion, the quintessential formula for success and longevity as an actor. Knowledge and dedication, coupled with true professionalism on all fronts can carry someone very far. I’ve learned from you that everyone possesses the tools for success, but it is up to us to keep them razor sharp and ready to apply them when needed. Your passion and zeal has been inspiring and refreshing. Thank you for your time and unselfish imparting of valued information.

Ken Harris—Florida, USA

I am very impressed with the ‘Session’ because it was of such a high standard. The class was fun, interesting and it was presented well. To aspiring and other actors it is a must. I am very happy that I took it.
Elsa Liebenberg—South Africa

“Aside from his professional accomplishments, I can truthfully say there are few people I know who possess more character, integrity and honesty than this man. He epitomizes those redeeming qualities of truthfulness, hard-working dedication and ambition. He is one of the most dependable, reliable and honest people I know.”
Debra Tate—Producer / Director, Orlando Florida, USA
